I’ve tried to write this blog at least two dozen times. And at least two dozen times more I’ve gone
over it in my head.
But every time I sit down and title it “We’re Here”, my
breath catches and I give myself yet one more excuse to go fold the laundry, or
paint the dining room, or clean underneath the fridge.
I think it’s because I’m not quite ready to face this bold
fact.
I mean, let’s be honest for a second…
things are good here.
Really really good. We adore our
neighborhood, we’ve got the house painted and decorated and nearly “done”, I’ve
joined a book club and a craft club and a bible study club. We’ve been met with open arms from our old
Sunday School class and… get this, we’ve received surprise goodies and gifts
and baked treats on our front porch more times that I can count. Miss Priss loves her school, Lil Sis loves
her preschool, and HOTY has golfed more times in the last month than he has all
summer long.
That’s the way I work… you put me down and I go
a’running. At full speed. Because if I sit down and start thinking,
that’s when I start wishing, and over-analyzing, and stressing, and playing
that mean ol’ what-if game.
No wonder this blog post has been blank for so long.
If I’m too busy living
this life, then I’m too busy to miss
my old life.
But Heaven knows that I do.
And I miss it dearly. I miss my
friends, I miss my neighbors, I miss my house.
I miss our preschool and our church.
I miss running to the store for a carton of milk and spending ten
minutes in the parking lot talking to someone I know. I miss my crazy photography schedule and
working with amazing clients. I miss the
plans I’d made for playgroups and girl’s nights and trips to the local Cider
Mill. I miss being home.
Funny thing is, I feel home here too.
And more times than I care to admit, I’ve felt this gentle
nudge saying this is where you should be.
Not kidding.
Never in my life have I felt more assured that God has put
me in a place for a reason. And never in
my life have I been so confident in His plan.
I don't know what it is. And I don't know what's in store for our family, but the hole in my heart that was aching just months ago has been bandaged up with a little thing called faith.
****
So “We’re Here”. It’s
been written. It’s been blogged.
And now that I’ve jumped this hurdle, I hope to get back
into the swing of blogging. I hope to
catch up on posts I’ve been needing to write and start capturing the little day-to-day
moments that used to bring me so much joy here in blogville.
I hope that you’re still hanging in there with me and will
join us in this Oklahoma
adventure.
Change is a’coming, I can feel it in the wind sweepin’ down
the plain.
