Oh Lucy Goose, where do I even begin?
When I think of you, I smile. How can I not? You are a ray of sunshine and you happily cast your light on everyone around you. Here you are at TEN years old and I can easily sum you up in one word… MAGIC.
Yep, MAGIC.
Because as you hit double digits, you truly enchant me.
This past year will definitely be one for the history books,
yet you handled COVID like a champ. You
and I spent our time in quarantine taking Macy for walks, endless golf-cart
rides, hours and hours in the pool and of course, crafting and creating
art. Can you believe we painted your
entire wall?!
When I someday look back on you at this magical age, this is what I’ll remember most…
Your obsession with DOGS. With the addition of our new puppy, Penny, you have become the expert on all things dog. You’ve looked up different breeds and weekly change your mind on which one you’ll someday have. Australian Shepperd, Golden Retriever, Newfoundland, Corgi, Bernese Mountain Dog… the list goes on and on. And even though Penny has turned our lives upside down, you ask me daily if we can get ANOTHER dog! You truly are obsessed.
If it’s not dogs you’re talking about, it’s DANCE. You spend countless hours in your room, working on your tricks and making up dances. I absolutely love when you come down and show me the new things you’ve come up with. As this is your second year on Junior Elite, I know it’ll be your year to shine on the front row and I can’t wait to see you compete! I’m so proud of how hard you work and how determined you are to get your aerial back. I have no doubt that you will! My favorite thing in the world is watching you dance, sweet girl.
Boys…. yes, BOYS. On the heels of Molly’s first “relationship”, boys have become a constant topic around our house, and you’ve openly shared who you have a crush on. Cute little Liam… or as you like to call him… your “imaginary boyfriend”. Between you and your sister, I think Dad and I have a long road ahead of us with future boyfriends.
Another thing I love about you at this age is how you’re interested in watching old movies with me! We’ve watched Clueless and Titanic (you loved them both), Gone with the Wind (you hated it) and a handful of others. We’ve also become total TV bingers watching the entire series of Umbrella Academy, LOST, and Away. It’s funny to see how you analyze each show and try to predict what will happen next.
Finally, what I’ll remember most about you at this age is your ability to make everyone around you happy. You get excited about whatever people are talking about and engage in others in a way that so many people don’t. You’ve encouraged me and been my biggest cheerleader as I’ve branched out with my art… I’m not sure I would have ever taken the leap without you constantly telling me how much you love my stuff.
Little did we know when we named you Lucy, that you would absolutely live up to the meaning of your name. You are truly a light – a bright, colorful light that casts love and kindness, joy and encouragement.
I love you my darling Goose. More than all the stars in the sky.
