photography & graphic design

MY BACKGROUND:
My passion is to create. And through my business, KJane Designs, I have carved out my own little niche in the world where I can bring this passion to life – through photography and graphic design.

In 2003 I received my Bachelors Degree in Commercial Graphics and spent four years dabbling in the corporate world. During the summer of 2006 I started KJane Designs and have continued doing freelance graphic design ever since. I have had the privilege to work with a wide spectrum of clientele, everyone from soon-to-be brides, first-time moms, small-shop business owners and multi-millionaires. Whether it be a small gathering invitation or an advertisement going out to thousands, I dedicate myself to creating something personalized and unique.

After the birth of my first daughter, I found myself spending more and more time with a camera in my hands. I began to experience the highs that only a photographer can explain and in the summer of 2011, I took the leap and added photography services to my business.

I am an on-location photographer, specializing in natural light portraiture with a fresh/modern style. I encourage my clients to be themselves – to move, to laugh, to let their personality shine. As a photographer, I have the wonderful privilege of capturing life’s precious moments. And as an artist, it is my honor to turn those moments into a work of art that will last a lifetime.

MY PHOTOGRAPHY:
I have a Canon 60D and use the following Canon lenses: 50mm f/1.4, 24-50mm f/4L, and 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6.  My favorite lens with my girls is the 50mm, and I like to shoot wide open at a 1.4 aperture.  My biggest trick of the trade is to always focus on the eyes and keep my shutter speed above 1/60.

I try to never use a flash, utilizing whatever natural light source is available - whether it be sunshine or a big window or the flame of a nearby candle.  I edit all my photos in Adobe Photoshop CS2.  And I love to add depth and dramatics to my custom edited images through actions and recommend any of the following action websites: Oh So Posh Photography, Paint The Moon and Florabella Photography.

MY DESIGN WORK:
Some sew, some bake, some sing....  I design.  Since my first graphic design course in college, I have been hooked at creating art on my computer screen.  I work with a variety of software programs for my design work, my favorite being Adobe Illustrator CS2.  Hands down, my favorite thing to create is logos... there's just something incredible about helping a new business owner create their "brand".
